Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global provide a useful setting for evaluating how chilling fits into a wider seafood production line. Equipment selection should connect the receiving load, target handling conditions, storage and downstream process. Buyers need a clear integration plan and acceptance method, particularly when several suppliers are responsible for different parts of the installation.
Seafood Expo Global made its Barcelona debut on 26–28 April 2022, after the planned 2021 edition was postponed. The 2026 exhibition ran on 21–23 April at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, alongside Seafood Processing Global. That combination gives processing buyers a setting for discussing how chilling connects with the rest of a production line.

How can chilling be integrated without unclear interfaces?
- Process boundary: Identify the point where product enters the chilling step and where it leaves. Record the incoming load, target condition and available time between those points.
- Equipment connections: Map the generator, storage and pumping arrangement to existing handling equipment. Include distances, elevation, pipe connections and cleaning access.
- Controls handover: Describe the signals or operating sequence needed between systems. Clarify whether controls are independent or require integration by the customer’s automation team.
- Commissioning evidence: Agree checks for utilities, equipment operation and the product trial. Identify who owns the record and how exceptions will be resolved before acceptance.
For an export project, the technical file should travel with the equipment decision. Installation drawings, utility requirements, operating instructions and the agreed supply list help the buyer prepare the site. Any certification requirement must match the destination and quoted configuration, rather than being inferred from a supplier’s exhibition visibility.
Buyer questions
Was the 2021 Barcelona exhibition held?
No. The organizer moved the planned edition to April 2022.
Does the largest catalogue model always suit a processing line?
No. Selection depends on the actual duty, operating conditions, storage and distribution constraints.
Who should review the proposed arrangement?
The buyer’s production, engineering, procurement and operating teams should review the same supply boundary.
What belongs in an acceptance record?
The agreed conditions, measurements, inspection method, results and responsibility for outstanding items.
